Remove PDF Password Online

Upload a password-protected PDF, enter the password you know, and get a new file with the password removed and the content unchanged. Decryption happens entirely in your browser, so your file never leaves your device.

Great for these situations
Perfect when you already have the password and just want to stop typing it every time you open the file.

You know the PDF password but don't want to re-enter it every time you open the file.

The PDF has printing, copying, or editing restrictions you want to lift.

The PDF contains sensitive information like contracts or bills, and you'd rather not upload it to a third-party server to decrypt.

Drop a PDF to start removing its password

Supports PDFs with passwords or permission restrictions.

Each file must be no larger than 50 MB.

What it can do
The tool automatically detects the PDF's encryption type: it prompts you for a password when one is needed, and lifts permission restrictions automatically when that's all there is.
  • Remove a PDF's open password by entering the correct password
  • Automatically lift print, copy, and edit restrictions when that's all that's set
  • Content and layout stay identical to the original file
  • The decryption engine loads on demand only the first time you use it
  • Everything is processed locally in your browser and files never leave your device
How to use it
Follow the steps below to remove the password.
  1. 1Upload a password-protected PDF.
  2. 2If prompted for a password, enter the correct one you know.
  3. 3Wait for your browser to finish decrypting locally.
  4. 4Click download to save the password-free PDF.
Known limitations
The following cases aren't covered yet.

PDFs with forgotten passwords: this tool doesn't brute-force, so you must know the correct password.

Corrupted or non-standard PDFs: these may fail to parse correctly.

Files larger than {size}: please split or compress them first.

Frequently asked questions
A few common questions before you start.

Will my PDF be uploaded to a server?

No. Your PDF is decrypted and exported entirely in your browser and is never sent to any server.

Can you crack a password I've forgotten?

No. This tool doesn't brute-force passwords. You need to know the correct password to decrypt the file. PDFs whose password you've forgotten can't be unlocked.

Can it handle PDFs with only print/copy restrictions?

Yes. If the PDF only has printing, copying, or editing restrictions (an owner password), those restrictions are removed automatically without entering any password.

Will the content change after decryption?

It stays identical. Decryption only removes the encryption. The page content, text, images, and layout are all preserved exactly.
